Guided walks and cultural experiences across Latvia's ethnographic heritage
We've guided over 200 visitors through our 3.5-kilometer loop around Jugla Lake, combining interpretive stops at the ethnographic open-air museum with natural landscape exploration. Each walk features rest areas and takes about 2 hours at a comfortable pace.
Our 6-week program brings participants into the daily rhythms of 19th-century rural life. Visitors explore preserved farmstead buildings, watch demonstrations of traditional weaving and woodworking, and learn how families organized their homes and work. 35 retirees completed the program in 2024.
Our curated indoor tour focuses on the stories behind Latvian crafts, household traditions, and seasonal celebrations preserved in the museum's collections. We keep the pace leisurely with plenty of time for questions and reflection on how these traditions shaped community life.
We design walks around seasonal activities—spring planting practices, summer craft demonstrations, autumn harvests, and winter traditions. Each season reveals different aspects of how rural communities worked with the land, creating meaningful connections between visitors and heritage.
